Wedding in Sedona?

Are you planning a wedding in Sedona and just haven’t quite decided on a venue, what food to serve, flowers to carry, cake to eat, band vs. DJ? The fair offers professional wedding vendors all in one location, including wedding planners, officiates, photographers, cake designers, caterers, wedding venues, musicians and disc jockeys, hair and make up artists, transportation companies, and much more.

Through the generous donations of many outstanding venues and vendors in the area, there will be wonderful door prizes given throughout the day.

Saturday February 18, from 10:00am-5:00pm the Sedona Wedding Studio’s annual 2012 Sedona Wedding Boot Camp is the ideal event for brides beginning to plan their lovely destination weddings in Sedona.  Over 80 leading Sedona wedding vendors will be represented with contact information, promotional material and personal consultations. A Hawaiian Journey in Sedona

This blog post contributed by Heather Hermen.

Ever heard of Lomi Lomi? I hadn’t either. When I read the description of the Lomi Lomi treatment at The Spa at Sedona Rouge I was intrigued. I didn’t ask a lot of questions because I wanted to just go with the flow and let Kelly, my therapist, talk me through what I was about to experience.

Just a little background she provided for me; Lomi Lomi is a Hawaiian form of massage and that comes from their philosophy, Huna. The essence of Huna is that everything seeks harmony and love. So, the Lomi Lomi treatment is all about balance with love and energy and fluid movements. Kelly incorporated her breathing with the flow of the ocean and her movements went with the ocean as well.

Kelly urged me to clear my mind of all thought and just picture floating and really move with the fluidity of her movements and what I pictured in my mind as the ocean’s movements. She then told me there would be a lot of oil because she needed her movements to really glide over my body.

This treatment is not one for the average Spa goer who wants deep body work and release of tension in certain spots, but rather, the Spa goer who wants to let go and really feel the power of movement, balance and essentially- love. Kelly is a gifted therapist and really knows how to connect what she is doing with the person she is working on. The Lomi Lomi is certainly one of her talents. This treatment helped me clear my mind more than I ever have while being worked on and the fluid movements were some of the most peaceful I have ever enjoyed.

If harmony, love and balance is something you are looking for, why not try a little Lomi Lomi?

Thai Massage- What a Surprise!

This post contributed by Heather Hermen.

Here’s a little something about me- I love Spas. It doesn’t matter if it’s at a resort, hotel, in the middle of nowhere- I just love a Spa. That feeling of peace and calm when you walk in and the smells are always so fresh they make you feel like you take the deepest breath you have ever taken and enjoy the exhale.

I have been going to The Spa at Sedona Rouge for years and have enjoyed trying out all different forms of treatments, sessions and therapies. So, when I was asked to try the Thai Massage I didn’t hesitate. I knew little to nothing about it and went home to Google what it was and received a very generic Wikipedia definition. At that point I decided to stop looking and just show up for the appointment and let it flow.

When I arrived at The Spa, as always I was greeted with professionalism and that welcome scent that only The Spa at the Rouge has. I took a deep breath and placed my items in my locker and went and waited for my therapist. When Kelly came to get me we took a little walk to the room where we would be and she explained what the service would involve.

I told her my physical challenges, I don’t think I’m very flexible, no I don’t stretch enough, nothing new to her I’m sure. She then explained the treatment would be a mixture of some yoga moves, stretching, breathing and movement. I took my place on a well padded surface on the floor and she instructed me to take some deep breaths and picture myself floating on a raft in the middle of the ocean, really “breathing and feeling the motion.” Believe it or not it worked. It was a peaceful picture and a relaxing one at that.

She proceeded to move and stretch my limbs, and really making me feel like a rubber band and freed up movement in my back that I can honestly say I have never felt even with a 90 minute deep tissue massage. Kelly used movement, stretching, poses and breathing technique to really release tension and make me feel longer and released. She also informed me that I really am flexible- I just haven’t put my body through the motions and movements she used. She unlocked potential in my body that I haven’t used before.

Thai Massage is definitely not your typical massage treatment. You wear comfortable clothing and no lotion or oils are used. The therapist works with your body and helps release tension in all new ways but the results are just as, if not more, rewarding than a traditional massage treatment.

This Spa goer is a fan and Thai Massage will be a regular part of my Spa going experience! For more information about this treatment or any other please visit: sedonarouge.com.

Sedona Rouge Helps Clean the World

The Sedona Rouge Hotel & Spa is participating in Clean the World. Clean the World was founded in 2009 and operates under the two-part mission: reduce waste created by discarded soap and shampoo products, and help prevent millions of deaths caused by hygiene-related illnesses every year.

What is the Sedona Rouge Hotel & Spa doing? By partnering with Clean the World, the Sedona Rouge has begun collecting and sorting soap and shampoo bottles to ship directly to Clean the World. The Sedona Rouge Hotel & Spa provides training for housekeeping and management staff, courtesy of Clean the World, to teach them what to keep, how to sort it, as well as when and where to ship it.

This ongoing project makes it possible for Clean the World to distribute soap and shampoo to domestic homeless shelters in the United States as well as shipping to impoverished countries where death rates are high due to acute respiratory infection and diarrheal disease.

The Sedona Rouge Hotel & Spa is happy to be participating in a program that makes a difference not only in the United States, but also for other countries where soap and shampoo are not a luxury.

The Sedona Rouge Hotel & Spa is a location unlike any other, management and all staff savor an opportunity to give back and make a difference wherever possible, realizing Sedona and the Rouge are in a divine setting. Something Different?

Are you a regular spa goer? One who tries the latest in treatments to experience the benefits for mind, body and soul? Ready to try something new and different?

A Cupping Massage may be just the answer. This specialty bodywork treatment uses suction and negative pressure to drain excess fluids and toxins, loosening adhesion, lifting connective tissue and bringing blood flow and tone to stagnant muscles and skin. The description may not sound as appealing as the treatment is. Take it from one recent guest who shared her experience:

“I have been going to Spas for years and consider myself open and ready to try anything. The Cupping Massage was a treatment that I didn’t know what to expect but was ready to try something new. Nancy guided me the whole way. From the moment we entered the room she made the treatment all about me. I explained to her my recent back injury while running and she tailored the treatment to my every need. It was a different form of relaxation and benefit that I wouldn’t typically get from a basic or even a deep tissue massage. Nancy helped me see that even if I thought an injury was a small one and not important to mention on the questionnaire I filled out in the lobby, it was something that would help her do her job better- which was to make me feel better.”

“Nancy is a powerhouse and it’s true when they say big things come in small packages. She is petite, but knows exactly what to do and how to make a person feel better. She explained the entire process of the Cupping Massage and let me guide her in terms of pressure and what was working with the treatment. It really was unique and different. I was so pleased to see this service offered on The Spa menu- it was wonderful and I would certainly do it again.”

The Cupping Massage when booked as a 90 minute treatment offers you the benefit of a Pascalite clay mask for the body which is designed to work with the cupping section to offer maximum detox for the body. It’s a wet clay that doesn’t become stiff and hard, but rather is soothing and cooling when applied, and washes off easily. When you are wrapped, the therapist can offer a neck massage, facial cupping, or whatever is needed.

A Cupping Massage is a unique service and The Spa at the Sedona Rouge is pleased to offer it to guests. If you are a regular spa goer and ready for something new- give it a try. Always remember, your treatment should be as unique as you are!
